Leg of mutton with sprit boom and club. The club helps reduce the length of sail so it can be used on shorter boats and still have an acceptable amount of sail.
This would allow a shorter sprit and not loose the advantages of the sprit sail. Since the cut and extra boom would be quite far out over the water, it would not be a danger to your head as it would be in a larger boat.
